XTech Research Hits the Mark: CPI Falls -0.1% MoM
We called it.
Back on March 17, XTech Research forecasted a -0.1% MoM decline in the March CPI — and yesterday morning, the BLS reported exactly -0.1%.
Meanwhile, the Reuters poll showed a consensus of +0.1%, and the actual reading came in lower than the lowest forecast of any of the 67 economists polled — the lowest of whom had expected a flat 0.0%.
This isn’t luck. It’s the result of a data-driven, bottom-up approach, powered by alternative data and advanced machine learning techniques to deliver early and accurate macroeconomic forecasts.
We release our initial CPI projections on the third Monday of each month, giving clients a critical edge — and continually update them as new data arrives.
